Social media is starting to gain mainstream traction and many companies and organizations are starting to learn first hand that getting their web developer or the kid in the office who has been using Facebook since college is not the right thing to do and can lead to disasterous results. In a BusinessWeek Viewpoint article, B. L. Ochman of whatsnextonline.com lists the six myths of social media:
Myth #1: Social media is cheap, if not free.
Myth #2: Anyone can do it.
Myth #3: You can make a big splash in a short time.
Myth #4: You can do it all in-house.
Myth #5: If you do something great, people will find it.
Myth #6: You can't measure social media marketing results.
